Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is currently planned for release in 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows 10 in North America, and for PC and PlayStation 4 in Japan. Phantasy Star Online 2 was revealed for the West after years of waiting through Microsoft’s E3 2019 conference.

Weapons from PSO2 can be used in New Genesis but will have different stats and some level restrictions, Units can be transferred and will act as invisible armour, and Mags will not affect stats or aid players in combat but their Evolution Device data will carry over in New Genesis. After a Steam version of Phantasy Star Online 2 was confirmed recently, a Steam page for the free-to-play online RPG from Sega has just gone live. Skill rings, consumable and boost items, materials, and furnishings cannot be transferred into New Genesis, nor can in-game currencies that affect the games’ economies. However, character growth such as levels, experience, and skills cannot be carried over. Player characters will be able to switch between the two games, with the core Phantasy Star Online 2 graphics to be overhauled to work with the enhanced New Genesis options. Phantasy Star Online 2 will continue to exist and remain playable alongside Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, with both games being free-to-play. It takes place on a wide-open field with time and weather cycles and will feature brand new game systems, a new graphics engine, and improved character customisation. New Genesis will offer players a brand-new adventure taking place “1,000 years after Oracle’s battle”. While many of those issues have been ironed out with patches over the past few months, Phantasy Star Online 2s Steam page appeared today, and the release date will be August 5.
